We are a community-powered local service built around one simple idea: a good book should find its next reader.

Books For Readers grew out of a frustration every reader knows: you finish a stack of books, you want them to do some good, but the donation bin is across town and the box is heavy.

We fix the hard part. You gather the books; we come to your door and collect them for free. Reselling a portion of donated books keeps the service free, and everything still readable is passed forward to Fresno and Clovis readers, classrooms, little free libraries, and literacy partners.

We are not a charity or a nationwide chain. Books For Readers is an independent, locally owned service for the greater Fresno and Clovis area, funded by reselling a portion of the books we collect.

That model lets us offer free, reliable pickups without depending on grants or volunteer schedules. It also means we cannot issue tax-deduction forms, only honest donation records on request.

What happens to the books you give

Every donation is sorted by hand with one question first: who can still read this? Readable titles are passed forward to Fresno and Clovis readers, classrooms, and little free libraries; a share of resellable books funds the service; and only the genuinely unusable is ever set aside.
