Books For Readers collects your used books from your doorstep at no cost, then keeps them in circulation — with local readers, classrooms, and little free libraries instead of the landfill.

We fix the hard part. You gather the books; we come to your door and collect them for free. Reselling a portion of donated books keeps the service free, and everything still readable is passed forward to Fresno and Clovis readers, classrooms, little free libraries, and literacy partners.

We are not a charity or a nationwide chain. Books For Readers is an independent, locally owned service for the greater Fresno and Clovis area, funded by reselling a portion of the books we collect.

Deciding to part with a stack of books is the easy part. Getting them somewhere they will be appreciated is where most people stall. Doorstep pickup removes that step entirely: you box or bag the books, set them somewhere safe by your entry, and our team collects them on the scheduled day.

Some collections are simply too big for a car trunk. When you have hundreds of books to pass forward, our team comes to you with the space and the hands to collect them in one coordinated visit, so you never have to make trip after trip.

Madera is the seat of Madera County and the last real town before Highway 99 heads north out of the valley, with a compact older downtown around Yosemite Avenue and residential pockets spreading in every direction. Those houses hold a lot of books that eventually need a new home.

We collect throughout Madera, from the older streets near Courthouse Park and the Yosemite Avenue downtown to Madera Acres, Parkwood, and the neighborhoods out toward Avenue 17. If you are in the city or just outside it, there is a good chance your street is already on a route.
